Homemade lotion bar

I made a lotion bar the other day. Mostly I was looking for a way to make my cocoa butter easier to apply to my skin. So I found a pretty basic recipe online that suggested equal parts oil, solid 'butter', and beeswax. So I used olive oil, cocoa butter, and beeswax. I like the way that the lotion applies but then it feels oily and a little waxy. Not just while it absorbs but even the next morning. I don't like that so much. I'm thinking about trying almond oil and coconut oil next time. Or maybe just a different recipe all together. I did like how easy it was to make!

Oatmeal and Banana 'Muffins'

I tried making these yesterday. They weren't bad but they weren't great. I did substitute regular yogurt for the called for greek yogurt. I tried to add a bit more oats and bake for a bit longer to make up for that. The flavor was good but it was a very wet dense 'muffin'. I say 'muffin' because it was really more of a breakfast bake than a true muffin. I also didn't put the batter through a blender. I just cranked my hand mixer to high and let it go for a while. The texture was okay for me, a bit chunky though. I think I'll give them another shot and make a few changes. Maybe add a little WW flour or put the oats through a food processor before hand. Chocolate chips are a nice addition as well!

John Muir quotes on a monday

I found this photo on pinterest. John Muir is one person I really respect in history. Not only is he thought of as the Father of our national parks, I feel I can relate to him. He continually links nature and God. I think that God speaks to people through nature in a very powerful, moving way. There is nothing that will make you feel more empowered than spending a weekend in the mountains or in the boundary waters. It recharges you in a way nothing else but God and his creation can.
